Sometimes you hear people saying that Arsène Wenger doesn’t care about the club enough to want to win the league.

‘He’s happy with 4th!’

Ludicrous, right?

Wenger himself will say that, in order to see the club through a difficult transition from big club into super club, he sacrificed his own personal success. He could have managed anyone with any budget and won the lot but decided to stay at the club he loves to see through what he started.

Now former agent Marc Roger has revealed that various meetings were set up for Wenger and his representatives to talk to Real Madrid, as Florentino Perez wanted him to manage the 10 times champions of Europe.

Wenger rejected the Galacticos to continue to build his vision in London. He could have managed the huge talents of Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldo, Raul, Luis Figo, Iker Casillas, David Beckham but decided against it.

The loyalty Wenger has shown Arsenal over the years is simply remarkable, he is the last of his kind. His entire life’s work has essentially ended up building Arsenal Football Club from what it was in the mid-1990s to the club we see today with a stadium and financial capability to compete with nay club in world football.

Arsène Wenger will leave Arsenal in the hands of his successor as a European powerhouse, and everything required to be one for years to come.
