The new FIFA rankings reveal changes for several Arsenal players.

After spending most of last season sidelined with injury, it seems a little unfair that Mathieu Debuchy’s ranking has dropped from 80 to 79, while Per Mertsacker has also dropped one point to 81. Flamini’s ranking has plummeted two points to 75.

On the other hand, several of our players have improved. Facing what could be a breakthrough season, the Ox climbs to 79. Similarly, Monreal also gained a point to reach 78, as did, oddly, Ospina. Alexis Sanchez’s ranking increased to 87.

Coquelin has gone from 75 to 77. Whereas Hector Bellerin is the most improved, rising from 68 to 73.

The right-back enjoyed a terrific second half to last season after injuries allowed him a chance in the first team. After starting regularly, the youngster excelled and even featured in our 4-0 FA Cup final win – a huge boost for the defender who, before last season, hadn’t seen a great deal of first team football.
