Arsene Wenger has high-hopes for Arsenal’s title chances next season, highlighting Alexis Sanchez and Petr Cech as potential key players.

Speaking ahead of our clash in the Community Shield against Chelsea, Wenger spoke briefly about our prospects next season and seemed optimistic on our chances. However, as always, as much as we’ve improved, he pointed out how it’s difficult to measure how well we’ll do without facing our direct rivals. Hopefully our match against Chelsea will help us establish this.

“We know we will be better,” Wenger said. “But it’s difficult to know how much our opponents will improve before the season.”

He added, “What Alexis Sanchez achieved in his debut Premier League season was exceptional. Hopefully he can do that again.”

Petr Cech will face his ex-teammates for the first time since moving to North London this summer and Wenger believes that with us, the goalkeeper can only get better. The former Chelsea man is bound to be key for us in the new season, as this was an area we were really lacking in before.

“Petr Cech was already at the top but I believe that you can never deny that you can improve,” the boss said about the Czech international. “He’s at the stage of his career, between 33 and 37, where a goalkeeper can be at his peak and he has the desire [to do that].”

He continued, “As long as you have the right attitude you can always improve in life. I don’t think it’s down to different training methods, it’s just down to him to keep at the top physically and with his experience he will always improve.”

Wenger appears to have huge faith in this current squad; hopefully they prove him right.
