Arsene Wenger recently spoke about Manchester United’s two new signings, describing them as ‘interesting‘ and claiming this is the Red Devil’s response to finishing fourth last season.

Last season Man United finished fourth, five points behind us in third. However, in the first half of the season it didn’t look as if they’d even finish in the top four. They fought back and managed to secure a place in the Champion’s League qualifying rounds but the manager, Louis Van Gaal, will be adamant about not letting their position slip again.

The Dutch manager has signed defensive midfielder and Arsenal target, Morgan Schneiderlin, and Bastian Schweinsteiger, from Bayern Munich.

“We knew Man United would not be happy to finish outside the top three and that they would respond,” Wenger said. “They’ve made interesting buys. They did it by buying two important players – Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin – but two top class players, one who goes up to the top level and one who has done it all.”

Arsene is currently on pre-season tour with the team, who’ve recently landed in Singapore. As much as he’ll be focussed on the task at hand, he’ll surely be also keeping an eye on the transfer dealings of other clubs in order to remain competitive with our rivals.
