Danny Welbeck’s first season at Arsenal was not an easy one.

The former Manchester United man completed his move to Arsenal on deadline day as Louis van Gaal decided he didn’t want him at Old Trafford. With no pre-season with his new teammates Welbeck was thrust straight into action with Olivier Giroud injured.

Arsenal’s new striker didn’t start badly but became tired and was playing in a disjointed team being more or less carried by Alexis Sánchez. No Theo Walcott or Giroud to give Welbeck a rest, no Mesut Özi to supply him, the England striker wasn’t having a good time.

All that could change ahead of the new campaign. Welbeck is sure to get more opportunities than he did towards the end of last season. He needs to prove his fitness first, and is expected to return for the Emirates Cup next weekend.

Before then make sure you check this video out and remind yourself that he is, in fact, extremely talented. Quick, strong, intelligent. Arsenal have a very good striker on their hands, they just need to polish him.
