Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal had a superb season, making the left-back spot his own.

The Spanish international played 36 times for the Gunners, with his undoubted highlight coming with the goal he scored in the FA Cup quarter-final at Old Trafford. After a brief spell at centre-half the defender moved back to his natural spot on the left and hit the best form of his Arsenal career to date.

Speaking to Arsenal.com, the defender has now given the best XI he has ever played with.

A career which includes 16 Spain caps and a spell at Malaga it is impressive to see four Arsenal players feature.

Laurent Koscielny got Monreal’s nod at the back, with Santi Cazorla in midfield.

Unsurprisingly Alexis Sánchez and Mesut Özil also made the cut, in a predominantly Arsenal frontline.

Monreal’s ultimate XI: Iker Casillas; Cesar Azpilicueta, Sergio Ramos, Laurent Koscielny, Jordi Alba; Andres Iniesta, Xavi, Santi Cazorla; David Villa, Alexis Sánchez, Mesut Özil.
