Swindon Town have confirmed the signing of Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill, who was released by Arsenal following his contract expiring.

The young defender never featured for the Arsenal first-team but has represented England at both u16 and u19 level.

Ormonde-Ottewill played in 13 u21 Premier League games for the Gunners, scoring twice but not doing enough to earn a new contract.

“It’s a great club,” the 19 year old told Swindon Town’s official website.

“They play young players and it’s a good opportunity for me to get first team minutes.

“I’m a left wing-back, I like to get forward… but obviously still do my defensive duties. It fits the way Swindon play and that’s a good reason why I moved.”

Last season saw the League One side reach the play-offs, only to be defeated by Preston North End.

Swindon certainly do play an attacking style, usually with three central defenders and two wing-backs, so it should suit the former Arsenal man just right. The left-back was with Arsenal since u9 level and it is always a shame to see Academy players leave.

Hopefully he has plenty of opportunities and makes a name for himself before too long.
