A superb run of results have left Wales in a superb position in qualification for Euro 2016.

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey is now dreaming of representing his country in France at the European Championships last summer, a tournament Wales have never managed to qualify for.

“It’s a fantastic achievement for the players and the staff,” said Ramsey during a press conference in Singapore.

The end of the season saw the midfielder star in a win over Belgium, a result that has left Wales three points clear at the top of their qualification group. Even more impressively, they have now risen to 10th in the FIFA World Rankings.

But make no mistake, the real aim is to qualify for the tournament in France next summer.

“For a small country like us it’s not an easy thing, and to be the first team to do that in our history [would be] a great achievement for us.”

Ramsey has won 34 caps for his country but is yet to represent them at a major tournament – Wales have only ever qualified for one World Cup and that was 57 years ago.

“We’re just really proud that we’re now 10th in the world,” the midfielder told the press.

“There’s still a few games left that we need to win to secure our qualification but we have a great group at the moment who are very hard to break down and have a good team spirit. We’re looking forward to our next games and to qualify for France.”

Ramsey will be key for Arsenal as well as Wales in the next year. Both of his sides are looking to go on to big things in the next 12 months, and he’ll be integral to any success they will enjoy.
