David Ospina looks set to stay at Arsenal and fight for his place after the arrival of Petr Cech this summer.

It had been claimed that the Colombian shotstopper was set for a quick exit after Arsenal snapped up the former Chelsea keeper, but in a recent statement he has said that he is ready to fight for his place.

Ospina said ‘I have always had to fight for the title position at all of my clubs. You expect a big club like Arsenal to improve the squad but you must always impress the manager in training.’

Quite what the manager does with all the keepers he now has at his disposal is anyone’s guess. We can expect to see Emi Martinez leave on loan but as for what he does with both Ospina and Wojciech Szczesny, well, your guess is as good as mine.

Cech is widely expected to be Arsenal’s new number one and it had been speculated that Woj would keep the number two shirt.

It looks like things might not be quite as clear cut as that after all.
