After playing at Arsenal from the age of nine, scoring his first goal at the Emirates was a dream come true for 19-year-old Alex Iwobi.

The forward was an integral part of our 6-0 win over Lyon, scoring his first senior goal from an expert Aaron Ramsey assist.

Speaking to Arsenal Player after the match, the youngster revealed that the moment happened so quickly, he didn’t even know how to celebrate. However, he did admit it was even better than he’d imagined.

After the match, he tweeted:

During the interview, he also spoke about how helpful the senior players have been during training and making him feel part of the team.

Iwobi signed his first professional contract with the club last year and Arsene Wenger seems keen to get him integrated fully within the first team. After training with the first team and travelling to Singapore as part of our pre-season tour, the forward obviously impressed and got his chance to play against Lyon in the Emirates Cup.

I get the feeling that we’ll definitely be seeing more of this lad over the next year or so. Maybe not as a consistent feature in the senior squad but definitely during cup matches.

Here are some more of Iwobi’s highlights from the Lyon game.
