Could Yoann Gourcuff finally be coming to Arsenal?

We’ve been linked with Gourcuff for so long it’s actually become a joke amongst Arsenal fans. Every transfer window like clockwork a new rumour linking us to the midfielder pops up and, surprise surprise, here’s the latest one.

The Frenchman has now been released by Lyon and is therefore a free agent searching for a club. Of course, we’re the main club who are predicted to sign him.

Oddly, for once I wouldn’t say the notion is too outlandish, purely because he’s free.

The 29-year-old has been heading south for a couple of years now and last season he only played for Lyon 19 times, scoring three and assisting five.

Usually with Gourcuff rumours I’m the first to shout “next” but since he’s free and we know Arsene Wenger loves a bargain, especially a French, attacking midfield bargain, who knows?

If he’s happy to sit on the bench, why not?
