A few days ago we reported that Arsenal were close to the signing of Ajax teenager Donyell Malen, and now a French youth international could join him.

Towards the end of last season 17 year-old Ismaël Bennacer broke into the AC Arles-Avignon team and made six appearances, starting three games, in the second tier of French football. Arsenal and Manchester City have both expressed their interest but the teenager appears to have chosen the Gunners.

According to L’Equipe (per SportWitness) the midfielder has agreed to join the Gunners rather than the Manchester club, who were extremely close to a deal. L’Equipe have not said that a deal for the player  has been completed but said claim that the offer of a 5 year contract may tempt him away from Manchester City.

Meanwhile, Donyell Malen appears to have completed his move. Ajax did not want to lose the highly-rated 16 year-old forward but he has been pictured with Dick Law with a contract in front of him.
