Saturday evening saw the confirmation that new Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Čech will wear the number 33 next season.

The Czech international wore number one throughout his time at former club Chelsea, but that number is already taken by Wojciech Szczesny. With David Ospina currently occupying the number 13 shirt, the options were limited for Čech – who was rather limited.

Nonetheless, the new Arsenal goalkeeper remarked that the choice was an easy one!

As he tweeted, he joins Arsenal at the age of 33 having played 333 Premier League games. Well then, I suppose 33 was the logical answer.

Perhaps the number will be prevalent again throughout Čech’s maiden Arsenal campaign. How does 33 clean sheets sound?
