After 11 years at Stamford Bridge, Petr Čech will play against Chelsea for the first time on Sunday.

As FA Cup winners Arsenal will face the Premier League Champions in the FA Community Shield at Wembley and Čech is certain to start against his former club following an £11M move this summer. During his time at Chelsea he won the Community Shield twice, including defeating Arsenal in the game back in 2005, as well as collecting 13 major honours.

Now he is an Arsenal player and, while he has fond memories at Stamford Bridge, is only targeting to impress his new fans and continue his successful career.

“All that we won together is something I’ll never forget,” the 33 year-old told The Sun“It’ll be an unknown feeling for me to play against Chelsea.

“Once I am on the pitch I want to win, I want the best for my team-mates, my club and the fans.

“For those 90 minutes there are no friends.”

The goalkeeper appeared in 486 competitive games for Chelsea but has thanked owner Roman Abramovich for allowing him to leave this summer in a transfer that José Mourinho tried to block.

“Chelsea could have said no to me and said I must sit out the final year of my contract.

“I am grateful to the owner Mr Abramovich for giving the permission,” said the Czech international.

Despite trying to prevent a move that Čech badly wanted the experienced goalkeeper has insisted that there is no bad blood between himself and former manager Mourinho.

“Has it soured relations between myself and Jose? Not at all. He made his decision but that will never change the respect we have for each other.”

That respect will be put to one side on Sunday, with Čech looking to get one over his former club for the first time. He’s already got one wish against Mourinho’s will this summer, a win on Sunday would make it two in a row.
