The second half of last season saw Arsenal hit new heights, and so did right-back Héctor Bellerín.

The 20 year-old seized his chance in the Arsenal first-team last year, and now should enter 2015/16 as first choice with the experienced Mathieu Debuchy left in his wake. Bellerín impressed hugely, developing quickly and rising to the challenge.

Ultimately the Spaniard made 28 appearances for Arsène Wenger, including the FA Cup Final at the end of May. Now he wants more for himself, and for the team.

“My goal has always been to improve, work hard and fight for a place in the starting XI,” Bellerín said to Arsenal Player.

“Last season I got the minutes that I was hoping for and I hope that next season I can do the same.”

The defender also scored two goals in his first Premier League season, and expects Arsenal to do more in the upcoming campaign.

“I’m really, really excited for the new season. The way we finished this season, the team have really come together and we’ve had some great performances, especially since the New Year.

“The team really feel like we can beat any team in the world with the performances we’ve had, so we’re all really, really excited to hopefully start the season with the right mindset and with the right results.”

Beating any team in the world would leave Arsenal with a fantastic chance of winning the Champions League as well as the Premier League next year – Bellerín didn’t specify which trophies he wants most or are most realistic, but he is clearly determined to bring more success to Arsenal.

“Hopefully by the end of next season we can win some more trophies.

“We need to start with the confidence that we finished this season with. That’s going to important for us, to keep pushing and start where we left off at the end of last season.”

If we do pick up where we left of last season, we’ll have a great chance of competing for the very highest of honours.
