Reports have emerged that Ajax’s director of football, Arsenal legend Marc Overmars, has made an inquiry about Wojciech Szczesny.

Ajax recently signed Yaya Sanogo on a season long loan and it seems the Dutch club wants to instigate further business with the Gunners. This time, they’re after our young goalkeeper, Szczesny, who’s got pushed back onto the bench after we signed Petr Cech from Chelsea.

Szczesny is no stranger to the bench after making some major mistakes, particularly when we lost 2-0 to Southampton at the Emirates. Colombian David Ospina stepped in and, due to us consistently winning, never got dropped.

Ajax are apparently looking for a goalkeeper to replace Jasper Cillessen, who could be on his way to Manchester United if David de Gea switches to Real Madrid.

It unclear whether Overmars wants the Pole on loan or as part of a permanent deal. However, if De Gea doesn’t move to La Liga, they have no reason to sell Cillessen and therefore, no reason to get Szczesny. It’s looking increasingly unlikely that the Red Devil keeper is going anywhere, but stranger things have happened.
