The summer transfer window lasts a month in women’s football, and closed on Thursday.

It has been a busy one for Arsenal Ladies, with two confirmed arrivals and three confirmed departures. There may be more news yet, with deals which have not been made official as of now.

Players in:

Sian Rogers is a young goalkeeper who was involved in the recent u17 Euros in Iceland alongside many other Arsenal Ladies u17 players. She was part of Birmingham City Ladies’ success in the FA WSL Development League Cup and is certainly is a player to look out for in the future. I expect her to compete for the Development Team shirt with Hollie Augustus.

Marta Corredera is a midfielder from Spain who played at the World Cup, she will wear number 17 and is curiously mentioned as a forward on Arsenal.com.

Players out:

Caroline Weir:  the Scottish attacking midfielder was not given many chances since Shelley Kerr left and decided to be reunited with her former Hibs coach Willie Kirk, who is now managing Bristol Academy. She follows her fellow Scotland international Christie Murray who made the same move during the winter transfer window.

Lianne Sanderson: the England forward has left the club returning last November. You do wonder if she came back in the UK to be seen more and guarantee her place in the World Cup squad. With her partner playing in the USA, it would make sense to see her go back there and sign up for a NWSL side soon.

Siobhan Chamberlain: the England number two goalkeeper is going on loan to a direct competitor to get game time, as their first choice Carly Telford has a shoulder problem. It makes no sense for the team ranked second in the League to loan a top player to a team ranked third, and we have to hope it doesn’t come back to haunt us.

A very curious decision. It seems obvious that Chamberlain would not get many games at Arsenal this season, so letting her go is fine. It’s a good move for her but not for the Arsenal.

Rumours:

Our German friends from Wosoworld on Twitter believe Arsenal have signed two players from the Netherlands.

Goalkeeper Sari van Veenendaal from FC Twente who played one game at the World Cup in Canada against China, as their first choice goalie was sent off in a previous game.

Defender Dominique Janssen from Essen who also played one game during the World Cup coming on as a sub.

We all know Arsenal.com are very slow to update the transfer news (as we have seen with the Petr Cech story) so we will see if those two transfers will materialise.
