Pedro Martinez Losa has spoken about the FA WSL title race and how tight it could truly be this season.

Following Arsenal Ladie’s 1-0 win over Birmingham, we now sit second in the table, only two points behind Chelsea, who lost 4-0 to Sunderland.

The results not only showed that Arsenal are back to winning ways after losing 3-1 previously to Liverpool, but that the Blues aren’t going to run away with the league just yet.

Losa is keen to put the pressure on Chelsea and is looking forward to the challenge.

“It will be interesting to see more teams like Notts County, Manchester City and Liverpool challenging for the title,” he said. “We’re putting pressure on Chelsea now who have a difficult game against Manchester City, and they also have to play in the FA Cup.”

He continued, “It’s going to be difficult for us, it’s going to be difficult for them, but we’re hoping we can keep winning so we can be in the first position as soon as possible.”

Raising the issue of injuries, Losa said, “I don’t like to lose players and Vicky [Losada] got injured. We had to take her off and we have also lost Kelly Smith because of a tackle, so we are worried about that, but I am sure we have enough talent in our squad to continue to put pressure on Chelsea and also be competitive in the Continental Cup.”

The ladies only returned recently from the Women’s World Cup in Canada and many are still fatigued or even injured following the hasty return after the tournament.

Arsenal face Watford on Thursday in what should be a simple enough win after beating the London team 3-0 in their last meeting. Hopefully we can string a run of good results together while we wait for our injured players return.
