Arsenal have continued their scouting of William Carvalho according to a report in Record in Portugal.

Coming via Sport Witness, the club had a representative in the country to watch the midfielder as he played for Portugal against Sweden and then in their game against Germany in which the 23-year-old is said to have impressed.

As SW reports, Arsenal aren’t known for scouting in Portugal so when one of their reps turns up people tend to pay attention and it is believed that Carvalho was the target of their interest.

As you probably know, Arsenal have been linked with Carvalho for some time now and reports over the past week claim that the Arsenal boss shifted his interest away from Morgan Schneiderlin and onto the Portuguese man with it being speculated that Schneiderlin’s lack of Champions League experience was causing the boss problems.

Coming with a €45m (£32m) buyout clause, Carvalho was named player of the tournament at the European U21 Championship this summer, something that is unlikely to make his club consider accepting a lower offer.
