Just when it seemed like Sunderland were set to seal the signature of Carl Jenkinson on loan for next season, West Ham have launched themselves back in to the mix.

It was recently claimed that Arsenal had agreed to a loan with Sunderland who were willing to stump up the requested £1.5m loan fee as well as cover the right-back wages but that the decision would rest with the player himself.

West Ham were supposed to have been put off by the fee but now it seems that they are considering moving for him again and Jenks is thought to favour a Hammers move for a few reasons.

For a start, it would allow him to remain in London close to his friends and family but he is also familiar with the club (if not their new manager) after enjoying a productive and successful loan with the Hammers last season.

Southampton were also said to be interested as Liverpool chased Nathaniel Clyne, but those rumours have died down recently.
