First rising to prominence in the Asia tour during pre-season in 2013, Gedion Zelalem has been a household name for quite some time.

The midfielder only has only played twice for Arsenal, coming off the bench in a wins over Coventry and Galatasaray in the FA Cup and Champions League at the beginning and end of 2014.

Now 18 years of age, it is time for him to play more regularly at a higher level – he already started this summer with an u20 World Cup campaign with the USA.

This video, entitled ‘Zelalem La Pausa’ shows him on that Asia tour as a 16 year-old, in the reserve team since, playing friendlies for the first team and finally playing at the u20 World Cup.

‘La Pausa’ is a Spanish term referring to players who intelligently pause (geddit? Language is easy) before playing a pass, leaving a defence off balance.

The video shows Zelalem’s technical abilities to pass and dribble, but most impressive is his command of the ball and the entire game. He can dictate the tempo, giving a team good rhythm on the ball.

When he is this assertive at a professional level he will be one hell of a player.
