Uruguay’s Javier Chevanton has launched a foul-mouthed tirade at Alexis Sanchez on Twitter calling him names that would see him receive a lengthy ban from the game if he was playing in the UK.

Chile defeated Uruguay 1-0 in the Copa America in the early hours of Thursday morning (UK time), a game which saw Uruguay end the match with nine men and Chile’s Gonzalo Jara facing further action after he appeared to poke his finger into Edinson Cavani’s backside (he has reportedly been banned for the rest of the tournament because of his actions), prompting the forward to respond and receive his marching orders.

Uruguay’s second red card came after a horror tackle on Alexis saw Jorge Fucile dismissed and it would seem to be in relation to this ‘tackle’ that Chevanton has launched his volley of homophobic abuse in the direction of the Arsenal man.

I’ve taken a screenshot of Chevanton’s tweet, mainly because I think that if he has any sense he will delete it but at the time of writing the original was still live.

Roughly translated, the tweet says “What do you want alexis sanchez, you are a cry baby, stop trying to be a man if you are a cry baby f*c*in fa**ot, today you played against men, cry baby.”

Chevanton wasn’t even involved in the ill-tempered affair. He hasn’t played for the national side since 2008.

He currently plays for Uruguayan Primera Division side, Liverpool, which tells you all you need to know, really.
