Mark Sampson’s England Women’s team made it to the last 16 by beating Colombia 2-1 and will now meet a familiar foe in Norway.

For the decisive final group game Mark Sampson gave a a start to three Arsenal Ladies players including first minutes in the tournament for Jordan Nobbs and Casey Stoney.

Lianne Sanderson also gained her first minutes in the World Cup as well coming on as a sub later in the game.

Sampson has now given a game to every outfied player with only Arsenal’s Siobhan Chamberlain and Notts County’s Carly Telford the unused players so far.

The starting 11 was Bardsley, Scott, Houghton, Stoney, Greenwood, Moore, Williams, Carney, Nobb,s Duggan, Kirby. Sanderson came on for Carney in the 56th minute, Potter came on for Kirby in the 66th minute and Taylor replaced Duggan in the 81st minute.

Goals were scored by Karen Carney (15′) Fara Williams (38′ pen) and Lady Andrade 90+4
