After a turbulent season, Wojciech Szczesny thanked the fans, the staff and his teammates for their continued support.

The Pole took to Facebook to reveal his gratitude after what is bound to have been a huge weekend in his career. He also put rumours of him leaving to bed once and for all.

This isn’t the first time the 25-year-old has used social media to set the record straight. Just days ago, he aired his family’s dirty laundry for the world to see after some rather scathing comments from his father, Maciej Szczesny, regarding Arsene Wenger’s managerial methods.

Szczesny Junior not only disagreed with his father’s comments, he admitted that the pair hadn’t had contact in two years.

Fortunately, this time there was a far more positive reason behind his new Facebook status.

“What a day! Thank you for coming and celebrating with us! Its been a long season for me but I promise to work my socks off to make it better next season and make all The Gunners around the world proud again!” He posted.

“Also a massive Thank You to my team mates and the coaching staff at Arsenal FC for their incredible support during difficult times.”

Finally, he added, “And a big well done to the media who almost managed to convince people that I could acctually [SIC] leave my home and the people I love! Well, you’re gonna have to put up with me for many many years ;)”.

Rumours that Szczesny could be off this summer have been circulating in the press for a couple of months. However, nothing solid or substantial has ever come up, just the notion that because he’s not getting playing time, he wants a move.

Personally, I love the fact that the goalkeeper is willing to work to earn his place in the team again and isn’t just jumping ship at the first sign of trouble, like so many have.

Szczesny’s a Gooner.
