According to the Telegraph Sunderland have submitted an offer to Arsenal with a view to taking Carl Jenkinson on loan for the season.

Jenks, who spent last season on loan with West Ham, has impressed, and it was thought that the Gunners might be open to letting him leave permanently. Arsene Wenger, however, ruled that out, and now wants to send the right-back out on loan to gain more first-team experience.

Setting a fee of £2m for the loan, West Ham have reportedly balked at the price but Dick Advocaat has OK’d the move and the Black Cats have offered the full amount for the 23-year-old.

The Telegraph claim that the Hammers are still keen but if the reports of Sunderland’s offer are true, they will have to stump up what is, let’s face it, a hefty fee.

There will also be no option to buy included in any loan agreement with Wenger hoping that the Corporal will become a vital member of the first team in the future.
