L’Equipe dated Wednesday 10th June has a multiple-page spread on the transfer market and they confirm that Peter Cech definitely prefers Arsenal as his next club when he moves away from Chelsea.

The French sports daily says Cech is a goalie that has the right profile for Arsenal; he can help them win big games in the UEFA Champions League. Also, he is not very expensive, which is always a positive for Arsene Wenger.

The paper also claims that Cech is very close to an agreement with Arsenal and it’s worth noting that L’Equipe have been covering the story closely due to PSG’s reported interest in the shotstopper, which they also claim has now ended due to how close he is to the Gunners.

If true, it surely means that one of the current goalkeeper is on his way out.

It would not make sense to have Cech, Ospina, Szczesny and Martinez all fighting for the number one shirt, especially as you would expect Cech to have some kind of agreement to be the first choice, considering he is leaving Chelsea as he was not happy with his situation as the understudy to Thibault Courtois.

We will have to wait and see for now but do not discount Jose Mourinho refusing to sell him to Arsenal as seen in a previous case like Demba Ba. Although the Chelsea manager has already said the decision will be made above him, you can never rule him out from doing something annoying.
