Mesut Ozil has praised his Chilean teammate, Alexis Sanchez, for his ambition and described him as ‘dangerous in front of goal’ – as if we didn’t already know.

Speaking recently, the German midfielder was full of admiration for his teammate, who only joined us last summer, saying, “He’s the type of player who is very ambitious, who always wants to win and that takes him forward.”

He continued, “You can see in training that he wants to score lots of goals and in matches he has lots of efforts on goal too. This year things have worked really well for him.”

Alexis’ ambition is something that immediately cemented him into the hearts of Gooners everywhere. Even when not playing his absolute best – which wasn’t often – he was always working hard. Always driving forward. This tenacity spurred on the rest of the team, making everyone perform better all over the pitch.

Since joining, Alexis has hit the ground running and had an astonishing first season under Arsene Wenger, netting 25 goals and grabbing 12 assists in 52 appearances.

Ozil was quick to acknowledge this saying, “He’s scored a lot of goals – and some very important ones – for the team and we’re pleased to have him in our side.”

Before adding, “His particular strengths are one on ones. He’s agile, quick and dangerous in front of goal. He’s scored a lot of goals for us this season, so I take my hat off to him.”

Our German playmaker has linked up well with the forward, who could’ve scored far more considering he went off the boil in the final couple of months, and I’m sure there’s far more to come from both.
