Tuesday saw the announcement that the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff will host the UEFA Champions League Final in 2017.

The stadium, which has a capacity of 74,500, has been a successful one for Arsenal in the past.

Cardiff hosted FA Cup Finals and Communit Shield games which saw the Gunners have immense joy during the early 2000s.

After a defeat to Liverpool in 2001, Arsenal immediately responded by winning three FA Cup Finals in four years. Victories against Chelsea (2002), Southampton (2003) and Manchester United (2005) came within such a short space of one another that Cardiff almost became a second home for Arsenal fans, a place of celebration. Now it’s possible that more success in Cardiff is on the horizon.

The game will also see Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey return to his home city, and he has tweeted about the decision.

Hopefully Arsenal will be there and who knows, by then Ramsey could even be wearing the armband.

Leading us out in a Champions League Final in his home city. Wouldn’t that be a dream come true?
