Phil Jones’ header against Arsenal while he was prostrate on the ground was one of the funniest moments of the 14/15 season.

Giffed to eternity and produced in slo-mo so we could all appreciate the true hilarity of the moment, Jones has explained just how he managed to get himself into that position in the first place, adding that Olivier Giroud found it funny.

“I thought the ball was going over my head and then I realised there wasn’t enough pace on it.

“So I turned, slipped over, tried to get up again, slipped again and the only thing I could do was try to head it away while I was on the floor.

“But I actually headed it on to his [Olivier Giroud’s] foot. He had a little chuckle as well.”

Arsenal and United drew the game 1-1 on 17th May, ensuring Arsenal would finish above the Old Trafford side and secure automatic Champions League qualification.

United will play the first leg of their qualifier at the end of August, with the return leg played the following week.

It remains to be seen if they will be forced to play an early kick-off away from home at the other end of the country in the Premier League just a few days after their away trip in the qualifier or if that’s a special kind of love the league keep just for Arsenal.

The 2016 Champions League final will be held in the San Siro in Milan.
