Shakhtar Donetsk striker Luiz Adriano is available at a cut-price fee this summer, and Arsenal have been linked with him.

The Brazilian striker only has one-year to run on his current contract, and could be sold for as little as £5.5M or even less.

“The lad did not accept the proposal from the United Arab Emirates, one that was very advantageous for us,” said Shakhtar Donetsk manager Mircea Lucescu.

Speaking to Calciomercato.com, the manager of the Ukranian champions seemed to suggest that there was no issue with selling the striker for even less.

“It’s a pity, as we want to sell him now and cannot afford to lose him on a free transfer in January. The offer from Al-Ahli was for €8m (£5.5m).”

Last season the 28 year-old midfielder netted 21 goals in 33 appearances, including nine goals in seven Champions League games.

However, eight of those goals came in demolitions of BATE Borisov.

Liverpool have also been linked with the forward and Arsène Wenger is unlikely to add another striker to his squad unless he is of the very highest quality.

Luiz Adriano is a good cheap option if Arsenal need a back up, but that doesn’t seem to be the case this summer with Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck already supported by Theo Walcott and Alexis Sánchez.
