It’s looking likely that Carl Jenkinson will be joining West Ham United on loan for another season.

The right-back spent last season out on loan to the Hammers and had a pretty successful run while there. Although he was injured for the first few games, he went on to feature 36 times for the London club and even managed to bag a couple of assists.

According to reports, the deal for another loan spell at West Ham should be complete ‘within days‘, which puts to bed rumours that the defender could be off to Sunderland.

Like last season, I find the news bittersweet. Bitter because I make no secret of the fact I love Jenko; sweet because as much as I love the kid, I know he’s just not good enough to make our first team at the moment. Hector Bellerin has been fantastic since Mathieu Debuchy got injured and even then we have Calum Chambers on the bench ready to step in. I don’t see how Jenko would fit into that.

At least with a loan deal, there’s the prospect of him getting playing time, improving and returning to us ready to contend for a place in the starting 11.

Only then, will Carl-amberlain be reunited.
