Petr Cech issues a final farewell to the Chelsea fans and needless to say he still gets unnecessary abuse.

In the statement, which was posted on Monday, the goalkeeper thanks the fans for their support while at Chelsea. He makes it clear that moving on wasn’t his first choice and him leaving for Arsenal is a direct result of getting dropped to the bench.

He talks about all the trophies he won with the Blues and his love for the club, but how his desire to play first team football while remaining in the Premier League was his main priority.

He goes on to thank Chelsea chairman Roman Abramovich for the opportunity to follow his instinct and move on.

Unlike a certain someone’s statement (*cough* Robin van Persie *cough*) who opted to heap as much blame as he could onto the club and manager before hightailing it off the Manchester United, Cech’s statement is humble and shows immense graditute to the club that made him the player he is today.

A lovely touch – although of course, many Chelsea fans don’t agree and have resorted to hurling abuse at the 33-year-old.
