As we all know by now, Arsenal are expected to complete a deal for Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Čech and official confirmation of the move is now expected on Monday.

According to various outlets, including The Telegraph, everything is finally in place and Čech completed a medical on Friday after a fee and personal terms had already been agreed with Chelsea and the player respectively.

The signing is a big one for Arsenal, who many think have lacked a top class goalkeeper for a decade or even longer, depending on how you rank Jens Lehmann. Arsenal’s last undisputed world class goalkeeper was England number one David Seaman, who left the club in 2003 to have a brief stint at Manchester City before retiring.

Čech has everything to back up his status, having won everything during his 12 years in west London but, as he has been displaced by Thibaut Courtois, he is seeking somewhere else to ply his trade.

At 33 the Czech international may not have a great deal of time left but he brings a wealth of experience along with his abilities.

One of the reasons we may have been waiting for a deal that is already done is the absence of a photographer for an official announcement. Club photographers Stuart Macfarlane and David Price have been busy with other commitments over the last few days.

Regardless, the deal seems to be complete and the wait for an announcement is almost over. Rejoice!
