Liverpool have rejected a bid from Manchester City for much sought after star Raheem Sterling.

Arsenal and Manchester United are both rumoured to be targeting the England youngster, but it is City who have made the first move for him in this summer’s transfer window.

Speculation

Sterling has been the centre of speculation since rejecting the offer of an improved contract earlier this year.

He still has two years to run on his deal at Anfield, and both parties are determined to dig their heels in.

Sterling’s agent, Aidy Ward, has made it clear that no amount of money could make Sterling sign a new deal on Merseyside.

In light of Sterling’s eagerness to get away from Anfield the rest of the big clubs in England have all been linked, and City seem to have bid first.

The story emerged on Thursday evening as it was said that Manchester City approached Liverpool with an offer of £25M plus £5M in add-ons.

It’s likely this bid was just to test the water, and they will com back with an improved offer.

Liverpool have slapped a huge £50M price tag on the England international, who is likely to play for The Three Lions against Slovenia on Sunday

Interest

With Arsenal and Manchester United also said to be interested, a move from City could force them into action.

Sterling said he was flattered to be linked to Arsenal just before the two sides met in April.

Arsène Wenger has been full of praise for the player and refused to rule out a move in May but there are no concrete indications that Arsenal will look to bid for him.

Manchester United are also said to be interested in the Liverpool star.

With three big clubs possibly sniffing around a key player from one of their rivals, this story has a lot of legs.

Time will tell who is truly interested in signing him, but Sterling is one of the biggest talents on the market this summer.
