Apparently we’re lining up a bid for another defender, Faouzi Ghoulam.

The 6″1′ left-back appeared 39 times for Napoli last season but wasn’t exactly a consistent feature in the starting 11. Although he did start reasonably regularly, he spent a number of matches on the bench. Although this initially seems like a negative point, it’d be doubtful he’d be bought with the idea of putting him straight into our starting lineup. Therefore, having him as a squad player is a good idea.

The 24-year-old Algerian has also played quite a bit for his country, especially in recent seasons, which we all know Arsene Wenger loves.

According to reports, we’re readying an £11m bid for him, which doesn’t sound too scandalous at all. In fact, it sounds worryingly sensible in this day and age.

Although I don’t necessarily see us buying any more players in the left-back position, considering we have Nacho Monreal and Kieran Gibbs there, I wouldn’t object to us strengthening even more and, although there doesn’t seem to be much substance to this rumour in particular, it’s not the most outlandish thing I’ve ever heard.
