There were seven Arsenal players involved in the FIFA WWC 2015.
Spain were eliminated at group Stage level while England are through to the semi-finals against Japan. Let’s have a look at the players individual statistics so far in the competition.
Spain 1 Costa Rica 1 Losada
Brazil 1 Spain 0
Korea Republic 2 Spain 1
Vicky Losada 3 games 237 minutes 1 goal : 90 min Costa Rica 1 goal, 90 min Brazil, 57 min Korea Republic
Natalia Sanchon 3 games 224 minutes : 90 min Costa Rica, 71 min Brazil, 63 min Korea Republic
Losada and Sanchon were first choice for Spain and started all the games. Losada actually scored the only Gunners goal so far at the World Cup.
England 0 France 1
England 2 Mexico 1
England 2 Colombia 1
England 2 Norway 1
England 2 Canada 1
Alex Scott 3 games 163 minutes: 68 min France, subbed in 5 min Mexico, 90 min Colombia booked, unused sub Norway, unused sub Canada
Casey Stoney 2 games 91 minutes: unused sub France, unused sub Mexico, 90 minutes Colombia, unused sub Norway, subbed in 1 minute Canada
Jordan Nobbs 1 game 90 minutes: unused sub France, unused sub Mexico, 90 minutes Colombia, unused sub Norway, unused sub Canada
Siobhan Chamberlain 1 game 38 minutes: unused sub France, unused sub Mexico, unused sub Colombia, unused sub Norway, subbed in 38 minutes Canada
Lianne Sanderson 1 game 34 minutes: unused sub France, unused sub Mexico, subbed in 34 minutes Colombia, unused sub Norway, unused sub Canada
None of the Arsenal players have been proper starters for Mark Sampson.
Jordan Nobbs, probably due to injuries that have hampered her for most of the tournament.
Casey Stoney is a back up at centre back and got a game when there was a squad rotation against Colombia, plus a minute to waste time against Canada.
Lianne Sanderson also got her only minutes against Colombia, she is far behind the other strikers in the pecking order.
Siobhan Chamberlain is the number two goalkeeper. She got unexpected minutes against Canada when Bardsey went off injured. She kept a clean sheet.
Alex Scott lost her right-back starting place to Lucy Bronze and this is not a surprise considering Bronze’s form over the last two League seasons and during the tournament.
Alex started the France game as Bronze was switched to left wing to counter Thomis. She came on for five minutes when Bronze was injured against Mexico and played the full 90 against Colombia when she got booked as Sampson used squad rotation on the day.
The only Arsenal goal so far has been scored by Vicky Losada for Spain against Costa Rica.
The only Arsenal player booked so far is Alex Scott against Colombia.
