A deal to bring Gervinho to Al Jazira has still not been agreed despite reports that it was all completed.

The former Arsenal man, who will be forever remembered for two things – his haircut and *that* miss at Bradford – was expected to travel to the UAE for a medical after completing his international duties on 14th June but he had not turned up due to a problem agreeing a fee with Roma. It had been reported that a €13m fee had been agreed but it seems there has been a problem.

The player has agreed a four-year deal and it is expected that it will all be sorted between the two clubs within the next few days.

Al Jazira’s manager, Ayed Mabkhout, said “We are still negotiating with Roma, until now there is nothing official. Everything with the player is agreed, now the two clubs need to come to a full agreement.

“Inshallah, everything can be agreed to conclude this deal. The negotiations are ongoing and we are trying our best.

“In the next two to three days we will know, Inshallah.”

Still only 28, the move would seem like an odd one for Gervinho, but then again, he’s a little odd himself.

Yes, news really is that slow.
