One of the weirder side-effects of the home-grown rule is that many clubs who probably wouldn’t think twice about him have been chasing Alex Song.

One of those is reportedly Chelsea.

The former Arsenal man who left to go to Barcelona, did an Alexander Hleb impression and then rocked up at West Ham on loan is, according to Mundo Deportivo in Spain, of the mind that he’d much rather go back to West Ham than play for Chelsea and, in particular, Jose Mourinho.

With one year left on his contract, the Spanish site report that Song would quite fancy a move to Inter Milan as well given the fact he has ‘girlfriends‘ [plural] there.

It was all looking like it was a nice juicy bit of gossip until you read further into the piece until you realise that MD are basing their report off claims in the British media.

Cue quick deflation.

Anyway, as per the law of the internet, if you repeat something often enough it becomes fact. So, let’s do that here.

And who knows, maybe it is actually true. They can’t make up everything, right?
