Fullback Nico Yennaris left the Gunners last summer for regular football at Brentford but the defender can’t wait to get back in the Premier League.

Speaking recently, the 21-year-old who’s currently on loan to League Two team Wycombe Wanderers, revealed his desire is to ultimately be back in the Premier League.

“My ambition is to be playing Premier League football,” he said. “Just because I’m playing in League Two at the moment, it doesn’t define my career.”

The defender explained, “It’s a stepping stone. Sometimes you just need to play games and get yourself out there. It’s the best way to develop.”

It’s hard to believe there isn’t a little jealousy between Yennaris and his old teammate, Hector Bellerin, who’s currently enjoying a regular spot in the Arsenal first team.

“I speak to Hector quite a bit and a few of the other Arsenal guys and they’ve wished me good luck. And Arsene Wenger believes I will be back playing at the top level at some stage,” he said.

On his future, the youngster said, “I’ll go back to Brentford in the summer and see what happens.”

Although the rightback played 52 matches for the Arsenal u21s, he only racked up four matches for the Arsenal first team during his three years at the club. He was loaned out to Nottingham County and Bournemouth before being sold on a permanent deal to Championship side, Brentford.

So far, during his loan spell at Wycombe, he’s made 15 appearances, scored one, assisted one and only picked up one yellow card.
