Arsenal had the lion’s share of possession against mid-table Swansea City on Monday night, but at the end of the match, all that mattered was Swan’s goal.

Jack Wilshere spoke post-match about how the Gunners dominated the match and that, although we should’ve scored, we can still take positives from our performance.

“We’ve got to take the positives. We’ll look back at the game during the week and we’ll see where we should have scored. We switched off towards the end for a couple of minutes and we got punished. If we look back at the 90 minutes, we mostly dominated the game so we can take the positives and we’ll learn from this,” the midfielder said.

Arsenal have been on an astounding three-month long unbeaten run in the Premier League and that coming to an end, especially in such a frustrating manner, is tough to take. Wilshere echoed this, saying, “We didn’t want it to come to an end at all, but especially at home when we felt like we dominated the game. It’s tough to take but when you dominate a game like that you should be winning it, but we switched off at the end for a minute and got punished. You get punished at this level and we did.”

As the 23-year-old has mentioned a couple of times post-match, switching off or falling asleep even for a minute during a Premier League match can cost you the game. In our case, it cost us three points, which could be the difference between second and third in the table.

However, as Wilshere says, you can only learn from the experience and move on.
