A rapid hattrick courtesy of Theo Walcott and a world class goal from Jack Wilshere in the first half secured three points against West Bromich Albion but the boss believes we were far less convincing in the second half.

Speaking after the match, Arsene Wenger naturally wanted to praise his team’s first half performance, saying, “We have played some quality games but recently we haven’t been able to score. Today, every chance we created we scored in a convincing way. The first half was of top quality.”

However, he also wanted to point out how our intensity did drop after half time, and it shouldn’t have.

“After half-time we tried to keep going but we eased off a bit and the second half was less convincing, but we still had chances. They had one or two as well. Overall we did the job well today and we finished the season on a high. Now we can focus on the FA Cup final and come back next season.”

This is somewhat unusual for Arsenal, who have become well known for their second half performances after lethargic first halves.

Although it would’ve taken a couple of freak results for Manchester United to leapfrog us into third due to goal difference, finishing our Premier League campaign on a win was a huge boost after our lack of goals recently.

It puts us in a great position going into the FA Cup final next weekend and confidence in the team should be high.
