In Arsene Wenger’s presser ahead of the Gunner’s FA Cup final this weekend, he revealed he’s not currently looking to make any new signings.

The Arsenal manager was asked about the potential signing of Arturo Vidal and Karim Benzema and made it clear that making new signings are the last thing on his mind right now.

Earlier this week, Daily Cannon reported on the bizarre notion that Arturo Vidal was joining Arsenal from Juventus, despite him saying mere days ago that he could stay at the club for life.

When quizzed about the apparent connection to the midfielder, the boss was characteristically dismissive.

“Yes, I like Vidal. Are we in transfer mode? I say no.”

He made a similar comment about our link to Real Madrid ace Karim Benzema, saying, “You can suspect that at the moment I’m not in a transfer mode. We’ll deal with transfers after the FA Cup final. It’s all suspicions, nobody knows if it’s true or not.”

As far as Benzema goes, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a transfer window where we’ve not been linked with him and while I do think he’d be a good addition, I don’t see it happening.

What makes the story even more unbelievable is that the Express are claiming we would sell Olivier Giroud to fund a £35m bid for the Real Madrid forward.

Selling a relatively new striker, who Wenger has put a huge amount of faith into, just to fund buying another seems incredibly backward to me and not the type of club we want or need to be anymore.
