Arsene Wenger was his usual vague self when quizzed about signing a new ‘keeper in his presser ahead of the trip to Old Trafford.

Arsenal have been linked heavily with Chelsea goalkeeper, Petr Cech, who’s only got one year left on his existing contract with the Blues. Although many presume that Jose Mourinho would never sell to a rival, the Arsenal boss was considerably vague when talking about his interest in the player.

“I don’t deal in ifs,” he said, before adding “We have three world-class keepers.”

Although Wenger isn’t exactly the most straight-talking manager when it comes to transfer speculation, he at least usually denies the rumours if there’s nothing behind them. The fact that he didn’t is quite interesting.

Cech has been out of favour at Chelsea this season after being dropped to the bench to make way for 23-year-old Thibaut Courtois and seems eager to move away from the club in order to get regular playing time. Although it’s more likely that the title winners will sell to a team elsewhere in Europe, having a keeper of his stature at Arsenal could only be a good thing.
