Arsenal have been linked with a move for Manchester City’s James Milner this summer as the Englishman looks like he will be available on a free transfer.

Speaking at his pre-Sunderland press conference, the manager was asked if he had any interest in signing Milner, despite his insistence that he was not in transfer mode at all.

Looking to try the back door, one journalist asked if Milner was too old for him.

“Twenty-nine is not old. As I just told you we are in front of a big game tomorrow and we are not at all focused on that.

“We have a big squad at the moment and it is not especially… we do not need a number of players. Contract talks at the moment are not in my mind at all. What I want is to finish well the season, and after I will make my decisions.”
