Arsene Wenger insists that Sunday’s performance against West Bromich Albion won’t change his team selection for the FA Cup final next weekend.

A superb performance, which saw the Gunners win 4-1 against West Brom, was exactly what the doctor ordered before our impending final against Aston Villa.

However, the boss is adamant that it won’t affect his decision when it comes to choosing the best team for the game on the day.

When asked about his team selection for the final and whether it was affected by today’s result, Wenger said, “No. I cannot tell you what I will do next weekend but you could see that some players are in a good shape. I tried to pick the team who had a good chance to win.”

If the Gunners win the FA Cup for the second year running, it will become the sixth time Wenger has won it – one more than Sir Alex Ferguson. It’s another great chance to win more silverware and would be a huge boost going into next season.

The boss also spoke about how, not only would it give us a good platform going into our Premier League campaign next season, but how finishing third has also relieved some pressure.

“It’s a massive difference. You go away and you can play in Turkey between two Premier League games at the start of the season, which is never easy.”
