As fresh rumours surface that Arsenal are in talks to sign Real Madrid goalkeeper, Iker Casillas, Arsene Wenger doesn’t think this is an area we need to strengthen.

In the Arsenal manager’s pre-Hull City press conference, Wenger was asked about the reports that the Gunners are in serious talks with Madrid over obtaining the 33-year-old’s signature and bringing him to the Emirates this summer.

The answer Wenger gave wasn’t exactly a firm no, saying “No, not necessarily.”

He continued in typical Wenger style by praising the goalkeepers we already have at the club and playing down any rumours that we could be bringing a certain Spaniard to the club.

“Look, I believe in the goalkeepers I have. I believe that Szczesny is a very good goalkeeper and Ospina has come in and done a fantastic job. You look at the numbers in the Premier League and who is top of all the goalkeepers and you will see it is Ospina.”

Although David Ospina’s record is fantastic, Arsenal fans are yet to be completely convinced by the Colombian and, after Wojciech Szczesny’s antics against Southampton earlier this season, I’m not sure he’ll be seeing action in the first team for a while.

Therefore, bringing in an experienced goalkeeper may not be the worst thing Wenger could do.
