Wojciech Szczesny has taken to Facebook on the eve of the FA Cup final to hit back at recent comments made by his father.

In scenes reminiscent of their last spat which happened in 2013, the Pole has distanced himself from anything that his father has said, stating that he has not spoken to his father in two years.

He also goes on to say “Just like everyone else, I’ve had enough of his idiotic comments about The Football Club and The Manager I owe so much to!”

Szczesny senior was reported in the press in Poland as saying “Mr Wenger does not belong to loyal people. He does not always keep his word and is not honest.

“In contrast, he is very keen to say that it is cigarette ash from others on the lapels of his jacket when, in fact, it was his own dandruff.”

A little bit of a weird turn of phrase there, but I think we can agree that he means the Arsenal manager has a habit of blaming others for his own issues, something I’m sure you will agree is not actually a habit of the manager at all. Often we find him taking the blame when he could quite easily point fingers.

Here’s Woj’s statement in full:

Szczesny is in line to start at Wembley and while it’s not guaranteed that he will, he admits that he is desperate to play.

“It would be huge.

“I did get a medal last year but it hasn’t got the full flavour if you didn’t play in the final. This year I’m hoping I can claim that trophy and be fully satisfied.

“Last year it was a straightforward decision for the boss. Lukasz played throughout the competition and I knew from day one that he would play in the final. It was very easy for me to take.

“This year I only missed the first game and have played the rest, but it’s the manager’s decision. I accept whatever it is but I’m desperate to play.”

I think, from all his recent comments, we can conclude that he will not be looking to leave the club any time soon as some would have us believe.

Woj leaving was the only way we could see the club splashing out for a new keeper with David Ospina only arriving last year.

While I hope Woj has an amazing day at Wembley and wins back his shirt, I’d much prefer it if he had nothing whatsoever to do during the game.

Given the form of Christian Benteke, I fear that’s asking too much.
