Arsenal have been constantly linked for a move for Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin for well over a year now.

The defensive midfielder, who wanted to leave the club last summer, is believed to be headed for the exit door at St. Mary’s this summer with the Gunners said to be one of many clubs interested in signing him, although whether they actually are or not remains to be seen.

Southampton are reportedly getting ready for life without the Frenchman after they allegedly submitted a £6m bid for Ondrej Duda who currently plays for Legia Warsaw.

Of course, Schneiderlin will cost any club significantly more than that and I’m not entirely sure we will see Arsenal dip their hands into the pockets for him.

With the emergence of Francis Coquelin at the club, Mikel Arteta looking like he will still be around for another 12 months, the purchase of Krystian Bielik in January and the dream that one day Abou Diaby will be fit for more than five minutes, do you really think Arsene is going to buy a defensive midfielder?

Remember, this is the manager who wouldn’t buy one when we were desperate for a player in that position.
