The Daily Mail have produced a graphic that shows the net spend per point for every club.

In what is a nice little exercise, the graphic actually shows very little because we all know that clubs don’t just use the players they have purchased this season in their squad.

Of course, Arsenal have had two big-spending summers since the shackles of the Emirates move were loosened and based just on what was spent last summer makes it look like Arsenal have not had to operate on a shoestring budget for the last decade.

Chelsea, for instance, come out of the whole thing looking rather well but how many of their players that helped them win the league this season were purchased before last summer?

Another interesting thing to note is how it also makes a mockery of Manuel Pellegrini’s assertions that Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal have all spent more than his club.
