It seems as if not even a day can go by without another twist in the Petr Cech transfer saga.

Today, Chelsea boss, Jose Mourinho, has made it clear once more that he doesn’t want the Czech international to move. However, he doesn’t seem quite as positive as before, merely stating that he wants to keep the goalkeeper at the club.

“I keep saying the same,” he told the press. “I want my best players, Petr is one of my best players, I want my important players, Petr is one of my important players – so I want him to stay. I expect it because I am positive, optimistic and I would like him to stay. So yes, I am optimistic that he can be here next season.”

His response was sparked by Cech’s agent revealing that the player had been given permission by Chelsea to speak with other clubs.

Agent, Viktor Kolar, said, “Petr has a valid contract with his current club. However, I can confirm that we have been permitted by Chelsea to negotiate with interested parties and Petr has confirmed his interest to play regularly at a top club.”

Mourinho implied that these form Cech’s agent weren’t true – although he didn’t seem all too sure on that.

“I don’t know that it’s absolutely true what the agent is saying or maybe it is, but after that the player has a contract with Chelsea and Chelsea will also have a very important say in the decision.”

Once again, as demonstrated in the Chelsea boss’s previous quotes that the decision to let Cech leave wasn’t just his but also owner Roman Abramovich’s, there seems to be a major disconnection between the owner and manager.

Saying this, as usual, it could just be Mourinho being Mourinho.

Quite what the truth is about Arsenal’s interest isn’t quite as clear cut as the press would have you believe with Arsene Wenger claiming that they have not made contact regarding any player.
